Responsibilities-
- Maintain and provide preventative maintenance of all production equipment, including but not limited to spiral ovens, freezers, formers, cartons, tray packers, breading, and battering equipment.
- Provides support in troubleshooting/repairs and system improvements (optimization) to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Preventative maintenance and overhaul all production equipment. This includes but not limited to spiral ovens, freezers, formers, cartons, tray packers, breading, and battering equipment.
- Communicate to relevant Production and Quality Assurance personnel, equipment breakdowns, and estimated time needed to complete repairs
- Read and interpret blueprints/drawings, produce rough sketches (abbreviations, symbols for machining/welding/assembly, tolerances)
- Provides support in testing, repairing, calibrating electric or electronic components
- Installation of new machinery & relocation of existing machinery.
- Participate in ongoing cross-training, multi-skilling activities within the organization. Assist in-training members of the maintenance team on electric equipment as required.
- Recommend and implement corrective action and required repairs for all electrical equipment/parts.
- Work collaboratively with operators and other classifications across the site to reduce downtime, safety and quality risks.
- Effective communication for shift crossovers, work order feedback, production meetings, and activity coordination between other shift members.
- Comply with all regulations relating to equipment and chemical approvals within a food manufacturing facility.
- Use of the computerized maintenance management system.
- Ensure all operations are in compliance with GMPs, HACCP, Health & Safety, WHMIS, and local electrical codes.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Mandatory: Industrial Electrician Certificate of Qualification (442A)
- At least 1 – 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment is considered an asset
- Above average troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve issues in a diverse, fast-paced environment
- Knowledge and experience with conveyors, high-speed slicers, pumps/compressors, electrical/electronic controls, and high-speed packaging equipment.
- A Strong commitment to continuous improvement of equipment function via design improvements
- Strong working knowledge of HMI’s, electric motor controls, programmable logic controllers, basic wiring circuits, and skills necessary to safely test common electrical systems and make minor repairs where permitted.
- Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs
- Ability to organize and plan daily tasks with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of HACCP, Food Safety, and applicable environmental regulations.
